Students receive 100% practical, hands-on training with 2" pipe. Instruction is delivered through a combination of demonstrations and one-on-one practice sessions with an instructor. Theory and safety are integrated into the practical training, emphasizing sequenced learning and repetitive skill-building as students practice and develop competencies.
Certification testing available if required.
SMAW Pipe - INTRODUCTION + CERTIFICATION PREP | 160 HOURS |

Students are introduced to pipe welding using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on 2” pipe. Practical, hands-on training and instruction is provided in multiple positions with mild steel. This course is geared toward skilled trades persons or industry professionals seeking to develop new or improved skills in SMAW pipe welding, with the goal of achieving TSSA certification in the 6G position. Topics include equipment, materials, applications, techniques, welding electrodes, post-weld operations, shop safety, and other related aspects of pipe welding. Prerequisite: Welding Assessment or valid SMAW 1G certification Options: Mild Steel / Stainless Steel |
